Pakistan has been facing a very acute shortage of gas supplies from its indigenous gas fields, especially the Sui field which has not only been the mainstay of gas supplies in Pakistan but has, in a strange way discouraged new exploration due to its enormous reserves. However, the decades long inertia in new exploration has been hard to get over. Resultantly, Pakistan is faced with expensive import of LNG and consequent hike in gas prices for all sectors. In this backdrop, and especially the agronomic base of Pakistan economy, bio gas is the perfect alternative, and a renewable one at that, to natural gas / Sui Gas in Pakistan.
